Alissa Eberle

Alissa Eberle current body of photographs has involved travels up and down the Eastern Seaboard along with points midwest, following the human and feline components of cat shows. The show cats' owners, if photographed, are often in shadow or partially cropped, suggesting that the cats express an aestheteic mastery that their owners could only engineer. The cats are shown competitively, with blue ribbon prizes waiting for the finest, but as these photographs suggest--without skirting questions about self-image and humanitarian ethics--each finished cat is the true prize to the owner.
