Sarah Julig's process of manipulating cut and folded paper appears to be a playful way to use patterns and symmetry, which she turns askew to construct her dreamlike installations, to one's own advantage. The drawings stand out in her body of work for the fact that they are much more than studies for the three-dimensional installations. The attention to detail and multilayered colors and forms and bring to life geometric structures and fractal forms that suggest the tendency towards ordering, but here are leant to the imagination.
