This overpriced Ecuadorian joint was lauded somewhere in the free press, though at least when we went it wasn't worth it. A misunderstanding with the host, however, seemed to work out in our favor. We ordered two lunch specials plus a side of plantains. What we got was one lunch special to share (soup w/ one spoon, steak w/ one knife and fork). It was kind of fun, sharing spoon and knife, and the soup was delicious. But by the time we left there was a sneaking suspicion that she let us believe that she had misunderstood us, but in fact knew exactly what we wanted and was having a little fun. Her English with a later visitor (a sweaty, stumbling late-30s male carrying a ubiquitous shopping bag, who came in to use the phone) was perfect. So they all had a little joke on us, fine. We were able to get out leaving no more than eight dollars on the table.
