I hear the huraches are good. Any place that has huraches has to be good. This is a real Mexican place. When you go in it's set up like a store, but darker. Wood walls and furnishings are rolled in yellow and red, and maybe green too. No beer but it's TOTALLY fine to bring your own; in fact our waiter recommended the bodega across the street. As I sat at the booth at the large picture window facing Bushwick Ave near the ever-busier Montrose L station, and sloppily gorged on mole poblano, I saw the daily scene of the neighborhood overrun by a new crowd, but this time it was from the inside looking out; out of a bunker that will hopefully stand for some time.

Get the burritos, get the snacks, don't forget to bring beer; don't bring more than $15-20 for two (and only that much because you're tipping, and you're drinking); and next time I'm trying the huraches.
